Businesses that work at the customer’s home, at the client’s office or across a whole region get stuck when Google asks for a store address. That is when the coworking space nobody uses, a partner’s home address or a pin on a map where the company is not located come in. Customers end up at the wrong place — or get suspicious. Below: what to declare when you have no counter, what to write on your website and what is not worth inventing.

Profile and website with the same area

Local SEO starts with true information: where you work and how to reach you.

Local SEO

Storefronts and businesses that travel do not use the same profile

A shop with an open door shows its address. Customers want to get there. Hiding the street, in that case, gets in the way.

Service providers, delivery businesses, consultancies and field teams do the opposite: the work happens at the customer’s address. What Google and your website need to know is your service area — cities, neighborhoods or an honest radius — and a phone number someone answers. Not a pin on an office you do not occupy.

The profile lets you hide your address and list where you go. Use that when it is true. If there is a pickup point or an office that receives people, show that address and do not pretend the business is only an “area”.

What to write, in practice

  • Where you go — city, neighborhoods or “within X miles”, whatever your operation can handle
  • Where you do not go — better to say so than to promise a whole state and turn people down on the spot
  • One phone number — the same on the profile, the website and your messaging channel
  • Visit or response hours — identical in both places
  • Profile category — your real trade, without stuffing the name with search terms

On the website, one sentence on the contact page is enough: “We serve [neighborhoods or cities] and come to you.” Repeat the same list as on the profile. A mismatch between the two is the first thing customers notice. Name, address and phone: keeping your details consistent.

What not to use

A coworking space rented just to “show up in the neighborhood”, a PO box, a relative’s house where no customer is ever received. That creates map directions to an empty place and bad reviews. If your area is the whole city, say the city. If it is three neighborhoods, name the three.

Do not copy a list of 40 towns you do not serve. The out-of-area customer calls, hears “we don’t go there” and never comes back. A short, true list closes more than an inflated map.

Website and profile tell the same story

The Google profile shows the area. The website explains the service, the visit timeline and how to get in touch. One without the other falls short: a profile without a page looks like a business with nothing behind it; a page without a profile misses people searching on the map.

Reviews from customers served at home count as much as those from people who visited a store: how to ask for reviews.

Spoken questions like “who serves my neighborhood” depend on that clarity: voice search. If you do not have a website yet, start there — the area on your profile does not replace the page: website design.

What to ask for if an agency handles this

Ask in writing: will the profile show an address or an area, which cities are included and will the website phone number be the same. “We’ll optimize your Maps” without that sentence hides the point that loses the most customers.

At My Help, aligning your profile and website is part of local SEO — prices are in the proposal, separate from the hosting plan. Service: SEO. Reading the scope: evaluating a proposal.

Common mistakes

  • A pin on a coworking space where the team never is
  • The website says “nationwide” while the profile lists one neighborhood
  • The number in your ads differs from the phone on the profile
  • Store opening hours for a business that only visits by appointment
  • A profile name full of keywords (“Cheap Plumber Downtown 24h”)
